So, more about Esther.

In the second chapter they talk about how Esther was made queen. We already heard about how Vashti ticked off Xerxes and how the kings advisors took advantage of an inebriated state. Kinda like a group of frat boys.

Anyway, Xerxes advisors posed the idea that Xerxes should have a new queen. They suggested that all the beautiful virgins be gathered together and given beauty treatments and the like. Whoever impressed the king most would be the new queen.

Miss America anyone? And you thought Who wants to marry a millionaire was the first show of its kind, huh? Xerxes had the corner of the market on these reality TV shows. Not only would he draw in all the women in his country er, correction, all the VIRGINS, but hed also give them six months of spa treatment in order to get rid of the two dots of cellulite he probably also did liposuction and breast augmentation surgery and such. Heh.

Anyway, after a full year (vs 12) of beauty treatments and such, the girl could be sent to Xerxes. Isnt that just the way a guy would do it? Joe Schmoe needs a new wife so hes going to have all the virgins in town go to the health spa for a year, then one by one, hes going to sleep with them and whomever he likes most will get to be his wife.

*shakes her head*

And we still seem to think that we can come up with a new concept. Sorry folks, its all been done before. As the Author said there are no new plots, only different versions.

Isnt that the way of the world? Ive done this too. We get to the point in our lives where we learn some new truth where we get some information we didnt realize before and it seems to big and so new and so fantastic that we just know that no one else has ever thought of this piece of information

Trust me everything you know and do and understand and learn has been learned and understood and known and done by someone else. The point of it all, is to do it with your flair. Everyone might be making a blanket, but not everyone will be making a blanket out of, say, sheepskin. Or paper. Or lead. *shrugs* Everything you do in your life has been done before by someone/thing else. Your job is to make the experience unique to yourself.
