Music -- Sort of

Okay, let me preface this with my disclaimer -- Music is a subjective artform. Each person has the right to like or dislike whatever they so choose.

That said -- What the hell is the deal with "popular" music? Seems that the people who become famous right now are formula singers. Those people who look good and can carry a tune as long as they have a great sound crew. Those people who dance and have at least SOME sense of rhythm...

Think about it -- "Bitchney Queers"... whoever is writing her songs is taking the lyrics right from the bathroom wall. How bout those damned "Spliced Curls"? "Wanna be my lover" No thank you!

How bout the "Back Seat Toys"? Five young boys popular among the Junior High crowd -- and why? Because the lyrics of their songs are written from Junior High Graffitti. Come on... five guys who have a semblence of rhythm... there's only one out of that entire group who has a really strong, clear voice.

What do they have to offer the music world? Same thing as Hanson and Menudo (anyone remember them???)

*sighs*

Does anyone remember Debbie Gibson? How bout Tiffany? And when did J-Son put out his last hit?

These people are fly-by-night pop icons who last in the limelight for about a year... IF THAT... Sometimes a little longer, but rarely.

The possible carreer length for a singer/musician who takes care of their body and voice is aproximately 50 years. Seriously! And these young kids burn out in 2 to 5 years. Why?

I think it's because they don't have GOOD music. Their songs aren't saying anything. The music is simplistic, boring and virtually useless. Hell, you could read the contents off the back of a can of soup and have more pertinant information.

*growls*

Please! No more of this bathroom-wall-lyrics music. No more stupid, meaningless songs. They're worthless and they ruin careers. Just ask Tiffany... Menudo... any of them.

BUT, that's just my opinion.
