Friday, Jan. 04, 2002 - 8:00 pm I've been doing a lot of thinking about labels and categorizations and the like. Specifically due to Astral's entry of a few days back. So... what about labels. Do I believe in them; agree with them, hate them, etc? It depends largely on the situation. Oh hell... this line isn't going anywhere. Fargin brain fade. Instead, let's talk about something that really irks me. Heh. How about something that was recently addressed on another forum, what constitutes child abuse, and how much power should the government have over parents? Something that really pisses me off is that the government can say that one is an unfit mother/father if that parent attempts to discipline their child. For instance, out here there is some law or guideline from the state which says that one is allowed to spank their child. That spanking should be no more than five swats with open hand directly to the bottom. Now, if you have a wiggler, and you miss their butt, leaving a finger print on the upper thigh or nearing the waist... that's considered child abuse. HELLO???? When government agencies remove any and all ability to parent one's children, we grow a nation of children who know nothing about boundaries or the difference between right and wrong. When parents are afraid to be parents, something is definitely wrong in paradise. Just my opinion
