Monday, Jun. 23, 2003 - 1:07 pm 5 13 03 8a I Corinthians 12 Verses 1 through 11 are about the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Its a set up, sorta, for the following passage which discusses the format of the church of God. Is that too confusing a thought? From verse 12 through the end of the chapter, Paul tells us that the church is a body, comprised of many different parts and that no one part is more important than any other part. As with the human body, the above does not mean that there are no vital parts. Likewise, it doesnt mean that there are no non-vital parts. It just means that every part is of equal importance; all parts have their purpose and are part of the complete design. When you decorate a room, you dont have to hang curtains the room doesnt become something else if there are no curtains but part of decorating a room is having curtains. When you design a building, you dont have to have a lobby in order for it to be a building, but a lobby can be a very important part of a building. With the human body, you dont necessarily need a little toe to remain alive, but it helps with balance. These are all non-vital parts of a whole. I had more to say about this, but my mind has drawn a complete blank. Im tired and my boss is going to be here in just a few minutes. If I can figure out a way to say what I was gonna, Ill come back to this.
