The Tangential Chaos of A Child Of God

The real story

Saturday, Feb. 02, 2002 - 7:38 pm

Well, I spoke with Dad tonight, finding out what really happened. He was getting into his truck after dinner. He stepped up on the running board with his right foot, placed his left foot on the running board next. He shifted his weight from one to the other in order to put his right leg into the truck and sit down. His left leg gave out on him, wouldn't support him and he fell back off his truck running board, flat on his back on the cement. His left leg slipped out from under him, smacking up against the underside of the running board resulting in severe pain.

He drove home, however, figuring there wasn't anything too terribly wrong with it, just being in pain (see? He and I are a lot alike. We'd both rather suffer through the pain than go to the damned hospital). When he got home, and got his boots off, his lower left leg swelled up to about three times it's normal size within a little less than five minutes.

Mom and I got home about five minutes after that, if that long. (We had stopped off at the store so I could pick up some treats of sorts. Yeah, okay, so I bought real food too, be nice to me) I let Joey out for a little bit, turned on my computer, went to the bathroom and then sat down at the computer, maybe three minutes. Then I hear mom's car start up. She calls me not a minute later saying that Dad thought he'd broken his leg.

I prayed about it, they were gone a couple hours and got back.

Dad said tonight, that as they were on their way to the hospital, he knew I'd prayed about it, it didn't hurt as much.

Mom said tonight, that when she looked at his leg last night, she could see a break... she said that the shape of his leg was virticle, then horizontal, then virticle again. She said it wasn't normal when they left, but once at the hospital, it was straight.

The doc examined Dad, took X-rays. There was no break, but there was a huge knot on the inner side of his left leg about four inches above his ankle. The doc said that he'd have a knot there with swelling and a dark bruise for about a month, maybe a little more.

Tonight, there's no knot, and the bruising is down to an egg sized oval about four inches above his ankle. Dad said that this morning the bruising was from ankle to about three quarters up his shin.

Heh. Yay God!
